A List of Some of My Favorite Mobile Applications

I’m really not a fan of worthless app downloads, which abound in the mobile app market today. Not all apps available in the app market are useful or fun to play and use. Some are just bloat wares that take up significant space on your phone. Even checking them out, for curiosity’s sake, is not worth doing. That said, I only download apps that I will really be able to take advantage of. While my brothers like the RivalMe sports trivia game, I, on the other hand, prefer downloading useful and functional utility apps. Some of my favorite mobile utility apps include:

  • Soundhound – I am a music-lover and although I like listening to music there are times that I just forget the title of the song. Soundhound is a great app that allows you to capture the snippet of a song and then search for relevant information about it. When you input an excerpt of a certain song, Soundhound will search not only for the song’s title but also other relevant info such as lyrics, year recorded, artist/singer, and group name.
  • TripAdvisor – This app is one of the best mobile downloads I ever had. It helps me search for great hotels in a particular vacation destination. TripAdvisor app also helped me to find good hotel deals, allowing me to save a bundle every time.
  • Yelp – I am a food-lover and I often want to try eating at new restaurants. Because of this, I download Yelp to help find great restaurants near my place. The app also offer menu pricing, phone numbers as well the exact restaurant location.

Other utility apps that I like include visa app, antivirus app, photo editing apps, productivity app, and entertainment apps.

Streaming Devices For Your Media TV

The good thing about the cyber arena is that you get to watch your favorite flicks and music videos wherever you are. How is that possible? It is made accessible to everyone by means of streaming. If you have extensive collections of movies and music videos on your laptop, you can enjoy watching it on your HDTV as well. Likewise, if you are far away from home and your HDTV is out of reach, fear no more for you still get to be a couch potato with your laptop.

Though there isn’t a single method, which can send all the goodies from your PC to your HDTV, and vice versa, there sure are lots of options for a specific task. For one, you can enjoy your favorite flicks on TV through your smart phones or PC. All you need is a Sling Media Sling box PRO- HD or Monsoon Multimedia Vulkano. These devices have the capacity to stream videos from your cable to your computer and smart phones. The Sling Media Sling box PRO- HD is probably the easiest to use media extenders. It is very user friendly and works exactly as you see it on the advertisements. The Monsoon Multimedia’s Vulkano, on the other hand, is a mediocre system. It is just like its contemporaries but is very useful at home. Products like these support the IR blasters. The IR blasters are designed to give you the power to control your cable box when you are far from it. You can even change the channels using this amazing gadget.

Another method of streaming videos is by connecting your PC to your TV. Your PC then mimics a media server than can access through your local WiFi. You can view the entire content of your PC on your TV. The Asus WiCast and the Veebeam HD have the capacity to display the computer’s entire screen on your TV wirelessly. The Veebeam HD makes use of a USB antenna that is hooked up to the TV. The antenna acts as both graphic and audio adaptor. The only downside, when using this device, is that you can’t use it to play PC games on your TV. If you want to play PC games on your TV, the Asus WiCast is the best option. This system has a real time connection that allows one to enjoy their favorite PC games on the bigger screen. This system also enables you to surf the web on your HDTV. You just need to have an HDMI output on your computer. The Apple TV, meanwhile, is the perfect choice for iTunes and Netflix users.

LED TV

Considered as a subset of the LCD panels, this type of TV set consume a smaller amount of energy as compared to all the HDTVs sold in the market today.

Plasma TV

Cheaper than LED TVs and can be availed from the low-price to the high-end models.

Comparison between LED and Plasma TV

  1. Color – Currently, the plasma TV possesses the edge over LED because it delivers superior color shades and quality.
  2. Brightness – The LED TV gains the point for this one because it is built with a superior diode backlighting system which gives off bright lights.
  3. Viewing angle – In a plasma TV, each pixel is lit, thus, the view from any angle is perfect.
  4. Longevity – Both kinds of TV have equal footing in terms of this quality.
  5. Contrast levels - The plasma TV is built with a great level of contrast but LED TV is undeniably catching up.
  6. Screen burn in - LED TVs never encountered this issue because of their twisting crystals technology.

Just as when selecting among the different tv packages available in the market today, weighing the pros and cons of these two tv models will help you decide which one suit you the best.
